This was my second patronage of Affordable Dentures of Commerce. I purchased my full top denture and a partial back then, they were very courteous, prompt and understanding. I am very much a Gourmand and a somewhat accomplished home chef, so you can imagine how important a function my teeth have served me over the years.
Well, in the intervening 20 years I have gotten older, and as happens more teeth lost, so I needed to switch out for a replacement upper and a full..lower... I was dreading the thought of the "gargling horseshoes" sensation that has always previously accompanied a full lower denture in my mind.. I have been dreaming of implant supported options but... they are soooo expensive nowadays, and let's be honest. Money isn't exactly something in any great abundance in most american's pockets right now, So, I had enough to get my dentures taken care of.. IF there were no unexpected/charges/complications, but I knew there was no legitimate possibility of affording anything else implant wise.. So, when the dentist(s)(I had not one Dentist but TWO simultaneously) informed me that I no longer had the bone density for unsupported lower dentures I had a literal panic attack in the chair.. "What if I could never chew, or smile again???" Now, these are fears that most People encounter as they age but then the auhd kicked in and I started to seriously overthink it... Well, luckily for me these folks are PRO's, and broke everything down to help me calm myself, and THEN went above and beyond to arrange financing for the process to make it even possible ( I've never financed .. ANYTHING so that was quite an achievement). It was still more than what I hoped but with no insurance it was the closest I was gonna get. I'm extremely resistant to Novocain based drugs and very nervously informed them of this and asked if they had gas sedation.. Unfortunately they did not.. BUT.. Thankfully, my dentists showed NO hesitation adding more if needed.. Soo. after a rather significant amount of numbing, we were ready to start.. the process went pretty quick and painless from there, the only uncomfortable points being the lovely smell of burnt bone and that the temperature is kept REALLY cold in the rooms lol. it makes sense .. as in such a profession ...forehead sweat could prove... problematic...lol.
As and older Transwoman, in the Southern United States,
Interacting with the medical community can be rather... Hit or miss.. so to say. So such interaction's can sometimes
be uncomfortable, or mechanically robotic. Thankfully this was never the case at the ADIC ! Throughout the entire procedure they were all very friendly and welcoming from front desk to surgery and x ray.. it was all done in house and the dentures were cut specifically to the map of my gums.. I am now starting on the 4 month period of healing underneath a denture ( an interesting feeling let me tell you lol) and then I will return to the lovely folks at ADIC, have the implant posts screwed in ( makes me giggle because I think of that metal mouth villian from James Bond) and then my lower will snap down!!!!
I'm so Excited.. !!!
So if you have been hesitating about fixing your smile.. or.. your ability to eat.. , whether due to cost, dentistry aversion, what have you... You no longer need to!!! Check these guys out and Tell them Jazzy Sent Yah !!!!! :)
